
Honrye, wedding ceremony, was highly regarded among the important human duties, and the combination of two families or classes in the traditional Korean society placed greater values on the family rather than the individual.
The ceremony observed the following six procedures; confirming the wedding through
the matchmaker(Uihon), sending groom's Four Pillars, namely Saseong(hour, day, month and year of his birth), sending the date of wedding to groom's house in return(Yeon-gil), to Bride's house(Napchae), sending a letter of marriage and essential living articles(Nappye), going to meet bride to her's house(Chinyeong), and holding the wedding ceremony in bride's house(Daerye).
